MINING QUALIFICATIONS AUTHORITY 2023 UNEMPLOYED BURSARY
The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is a Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) for the mining and minerals sector in terms of the Skills Development Act No. 97 of 1998.
The MQA would like to invite persons who are CURRENTLY employed within the mining and minerals sector who would like to pursue studies for a qualification relevant to the mining related fields to apply for an MQA bursary for the 2023 academic year.
The bursary is not available to applicants presently on the Internship Programme or Work Experience (P1/P2) Programme as these programmes are not considered as employment at a host company.
A total of 60 bursary opportunities for employed bursars will be available for the 2023 academic year and for those that commenced with their studies in the second semester of 2022 academic year.
The bursary will cover tuition and allowances for books ONLY.

GUIDELINES AND INSTRUCTIONS
Please make sure that you read the guidelines and instructions hereunder before you complete the
application form. You must complete the entre application form. An incomplete application form without
the necessary supporting documents will be disqualified.
A. APPLICATION FORM
1. The Applications Form is an electronic FILLABLE PDF FORMAT with drop-down menus where applicable.
You must click on the appropriate selection button and/or type in the information where such information is
required.
2. The Application Form is set up in such a way that we will retrieve your information directly from the form.
DO NOT change the format of the form to a normal PDF or Word format.
3. After you have completed the application form, then you must save the form under your full name and
surname and e-mail the completed application form to the e-mail address hereunder.
4. You must type in your full names and surname and ID Number in the subject line of the e-mail.
5. Do not complete the form by hand.
NB: if your smart phone or tablet does not have capacity to processes PDF Forms, then please use a
computer or laptop. (You must use Adobe Acrobat Reader – you can download it for free)
B. SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS You must ONLY provide the following documents hereunder:
- Certified copy of your Identity Document.
- Certified of copy of your Grade 12 Certificate (All applicants).
- December 2021 Grade 11 Results or June 2022 Grade 12 results (if you are in high school).
- Acceptance Letter from University (if you are high school).
- Full Academic Record (if you are at University or TVET College).
- Proof of house Income – Payslip of person(s) who is financially responsible for you – Mother, Father, or Guardian (not older than 3 months).
- Proof of SASSA pension payment (where applicable)
- An affidavit if the person(s) on whom you are financially dependent is unemployed (You must make an affidavit). Please name your supporting documents appropriately. Do not send supporting documents as ZIP files. Do not send your CV.

- Only e-mailed application forms will be considered.
- Application forms send to any other e-mail address at MQA will not be considered.
- Application forms send by links such as Google Drive, OneDrive or Adobe Cloud will not be considered NB: Late and incomplete applications forms will be disqualified.
