Pikitup is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for 400 General Worker positions. These roles are essential for maintaining the cleanliness of the City of Johannesburg.

1. Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this position, you must meet the following criteria:

• Education: Grade 10 (Standard 8) or equivalent.
• Experience: At least 12 months of cleaning or general work experience.
• Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen.
• Residency: Must reside within the City of Johannesburg (proof of address is required).
• Fitness: Must be physically and mentally fit to perform manual labor.
• Record: No criminal record (a police clearance or affidavit may be required).

2. Key Responsibilities

The primary duties of the General Worker include:

• Street cleaning and sweeping.
• Cleaning refuse bins and delivering new/replacement bins.
• Stacking refuse bags at designated collection points.
• Litter picking and removing debris from pavements.
• Clearing spillages when refuse bags break.
• Operating basic tools and equipment according to safety procedures.
