Apprentice Vacancy 2026 Intake
LH Marthinusen, a proud division of ACTOM (Pty) Ltd, is offering a valuable opportunity for dedicated and motivated individuals to join our 4-year Apprenticeship Programme. This programme is designed to provide hands-on training, technical knowledge, and workplace experience, ultimately leading to a trade test qualification under MerSETA.
Successful candidates will be appointed on a Limited Duration Contract with the possibility of permanent employment upon successful completion of the programme. Apprentices will be trained by experienced professionals in a supportive learning environment, ensuring continuous growth and development in their chosen trade.
Programme Scope
Applicants must meet the minimum requirement of N2/NCV Level 4 with four complete subjects in the relevant trade.
Commitment to continuous learning and professional development is essential.
A strong work ethic, discipline, and willingness to learn in both theoretical and practical environments.

Responsibilities During Training
As an apprentice, you will gain skills and experience in the following areas:
Use and care of basic hand tools.
Understanding and application of First Aid.
Ability to work accurately and adhere strictly to job specifications.
Awareness and correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Adherence to SHERQ Management Regulations (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
Development of effective communication and time management skills.
Completion and maintenance of log books to record progress.
Participation in departmental rotations for well-rounded experience.
Involvement in other production functions as required.
Working Conditions
The programme involves physical, mental, and sensory demands in both factory/workshop environments and on Eskom Power Stations in Mpumalanga / Volksrust.
Many of the mechanical trade positions are linked to a 4-year Eskom contract.
Preference will be given to candidates from the following areas:
Volksrust
Amersfoort
Witbank
Middelburg
Lephalale
Delmas
Training will be a combination of practical work at our Johannesburg workshop and relevant assignments at Eskom Power Stations. The geographical origin of applicants will be considered in placement.
