Sasol, in collaboration with PDPS (Plant Design and Project Services), invites motivated and unemployed South African youth to apply for the 2026 Welding Apprenticeship Programme. This structured four-year programme combines classroom learning with practical workplace training, giving participants the opportunity to develop valuable artisan skills and build a long-term career in the engineering industry.

Who Can Apply?

Applicants must be South African citizens residing in one of the following communities:

  • Govan Mbeki Municipality
  • Ekandustria Region 7
  • City of Tshwane
  • Dark City
  • Ekangala
  • Rethabiseng
  • Zithobeni

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following academic requirements:

Option 1: Grade 12 (Matric)

  • English
  • Pure Mathematics (Mathematics Literacy is not accepted)
  • Physical Science
  • Engineering Graphic Design (Advantageous)
  • Welding/Platers Theory (Advantageous)

Option 2: N3 Engineering

  • English
  • Engineering Mathematics N3
  • Engineering Science N3
  • Trade-related Theory N3 (Advantageous)

Option 3: NCV Level 4

  • English/First Additional Language
  • Mathematics Level 4
  • Engineering Science Level 4
  • Engineering Processes Level 4
  • Professional Engineering Practice Level 4
  • Applied Engineering Technology Level 4
  • Trade-related Theory
  • Welding/Platers Theory

Documents Required

Ensure the following certified documents are included with your application:

  • Updated Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • South African ID
  • Qualification certificates or latest academic results
  • Proof of residence
  • SARS confirmation letter
  • Recent bank statement showing your residential address
  • Driver’s licence (if available)
  • Supporting affidavits where proof of residence is not in your name
