The latest SASSA payment dates and R350 grant details for May have been made public, and recipients won’t have to wait long to collect their monies including the April Allocation
WHEN ARE R350 GRANT PAYMENT DATES FOR MAY?
Those receiving SASSA grants and the special R350 covid-19 relief grants from SASSA will be pleased to know that the payment dates for May will arrive next week.
The waiting will be minimal for our grant recipients, as all established payments should be made in the first three days of May.
As per usual, the elderly will be the first to claim their SASSA grants. Disability claimants then follow the day after, then child maintenance payments are made.
How about the April grant?
The April R350 grant was not paid during april and will now be paid together with the May grant as R700.00 and here are the dates according to ID numbers.
Previously, social grants used to be paid on the 1st of every month. In order to curb the spread of the Covid-19 infection, payment dates were then revised.
As previously reported, SASSA said it heard beneficiaries’ complaints about the previous payment schedule and decided to make a change.
“If the second day of the month falls on a weekend or public holiday, the payment will take place on the following workday,” said the agency.
NEW R350 SRD GRANT CRITERIA:
The National State of Disaster, which facilitated the SRD grant, came to an end in April 2022. However, the Department of Social Development has been working on a regulatory framework for the payment of the grant since Ramaphosa announced the extension.
Social Development Minister, Lindiwe Zulu gazetted the new regulations on 22 April, a day before the application process reopened.
All beneficiaries of the R350 SRD rant are required to re-apply and the criteria are tighter than before. Many social justice groups and unions feel that the new regulations will leave the poor poorer.
