Assumptions and limits
GPA scales, boosts, exclusions and repeated-course rules vary by institution. This tool provides transparent planning calculations, not an official transcript conversion.
Results use the values you enter and the conventions described in the methodology below. After calculating, review the result-specific assumptions and warnings shown with the estimate.

01
How credit-weighted GPA is calculated
Multiply each included course’s grade points by its credits, add the quality points and divide by included credits. Mark pass/fail work as excluded when it does not bear GPA points.
02
Semester versus cumulative GPA
A cumulative GPA combines previous quality points with the current term. Previous GPA × previous credits plus term GPA × term credits is divided by total credits.
03
Weighted versus unweighted GPA
Unweighted GPA uses the selected base scale. Weighted mode adds visible course-level boosts. The example +0.5 and +1.0 boosts are not a promise about any school or admissions office.
04
Target GPA planning
The target solver determines the average needed across planned future credits. If it exceeds the selected maximum, the target is mathematically impossible under those assumptions.
