Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated and safety-conscious Electrical Apprentice to join our maintenance team at AECI Plant Health. This is a hands-on learning opportunity designed to provide both theoretical and practical training in electrical systems. You will gain exposure to a wide range of electrical maintenance and installation tasks in an industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in the full apprenticeship program and acquire both technical skills and practical experience.
Perform maintenance and repair work on electrical systems and equipment.
Diagnose faults, identify root causes, and carry out repairs or component replacements.
Assist in the installation and upgrade of electrical wiring and 3-phase AC motors.
Conduct electrical testing using appropriate diagnostic tools.
Support the team during equipment breakdowns, maintenance shutdowns, and new installations.
Follow health, safety, and environmental regulations, ensuring all work is SANS 10142-compliant.
Document safety incidents, near misses, and potential hazards accurately and honestly.
Execute ad hoc technical duties under the guidance of the Electrician or Maintenance Team Leader.
Minimum Requirements
—Education: Matric (Grade 12) and an N3 Electrical qualification.
—Knowledge:
-Basic understanding of SANS 10142 wiring regulations.
-Familiarity with Merseta apprenticeship frameworks.
-Basic knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSAct).
Technical Skills:
-Computer literacy.
-Competency in report writing.
-Ability to troubleshoot and work with electrical test equipment.
