Key Responsibilities

1. Receive and Process Cash

The successful candidate will assist with receiving customer deposits and ensuring that all transactions are captured accurately on the relevant systems.

Key duties include:

  • Receiving and processing cash deposits.
  • Updating deposits on the applicable systems.
  • Following company policies, procedures and operational controls.
  • Identifying and reporting irregularities or potential risks.
  • Ensuring customer and company assets are handled responsibly.

2. Cash Preparation

The Cash Processor will prepare cash deposits for accurate and efficient processing.

Responsibilities include:

  • Inspecting containers and bags for damage, tampering or interference.
  • Reporting abnormalities to the Team Controller.
  • Acknowledging containers and bags on the applicable system.
  • Processing deposits according to agreed banking SLAs and SOPs.
  • Preparing workstations correctly for effective note counting.

3. Note Sorting and Verification

Accuracy is essential when handling cash. The role involves sorting and verifying notes within required processing deadlines.

Duties include:

  • Sorting prepared deposits and notes within daily cut-off times.
  • Processing FDP/ACDP-related deposits.
  • Sending rejected notes to the Reject Teller.

4. Cash Reconciliation

The successful candidate will support accurate reconciliation of cash and rejected notes.

  • Reconciling rejected notes and validating transaction information.
  • Manually checking rejected notes for counterfeit, dye-stained or mutilated currency.
  • Performing authorised cash transfers to vaults.
  • Completing end-of-day cash balancing and reconciliation.

Desktop Deposit Processing

Candidates will assist with the accurate processing of customer deposits received through desktop deposit operations.

  • Inspecting bags and containers for damage or tampering.

  • Acknowledging containers and bags on the relevant system.
  • Keeping customer deposits separate throughout processing.
  • Processing deposits on the same day they are received.

Sachet and Coin Processing

  • Processing bulk coin deposits according to company policies and procedures.

Bank System Integrated Deposits

The Cash Processor will support transactions linked to integrated banking systems.

  • Validating transactions according to banking SLAs.

  • Informing Client Services of account-linking problems to minimise delays.
  • Verifying deposit account numbers to prevent losses and incorrect postings.

Payroll and Change Processing

The position includes supporting payroll and change-related transactions.

  • Processing payroll and change transactions within agreed SLAs.

  • Preparing and sealing floats in drop-safe bags.
  • Ensuring float packing slips are included correctly.
  • Placing sealed bags into designated trolleys according to customer requirements.
  • Processing payroll entries within required banking timeframes.
  • Reporting defective equipment.
  • Obtaining the required banking authorisation before dispatch.

Prepack and Treasury Operations

The successful candidate may assist with treasury-related cash handling activities.

Duties include:

  • Assisting with accurate packing and unpacking of bank cash.
  • Assisting with ATM cash preparation.
  • Managing consumables according to packing requirements.
  • Confirming that bag and seal numbers are correctly recorded.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation throughout the process.

Equipment and Asset Management

Employees are expected to use company equipment responsibly and according to approved Standard Operating Procedures.
