⚙️ Job Purpose
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Millwright to join our Krugersdorp plant. The successful candidate will ensure all manufacturing equipment is maintained and serviced according to engineering best practices and food safety standards, ensuring maximum uptime and performance.
🎓 Minimum Requirements
N3 – N6 or NCV Technical Qualification
Millwright Trade Test (essential)
2–5 years’ experience as an Artisan in the FMCG industry
Knowledge of:
Conveyor belts, modular belts, and bearings
Electrical and mechanical tools
PLCs, VSDs, AC/DC machines
Ammonia & glycol plants, boilers, compressors
Food safety & hygiene standards
Occupational Health and Safety Act
🧠 Key Skills and Competencies
Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills
Strong understanding of both electrical and mechanical systems
Proficient in reading and analyzing technical and engineering drawings
High attention to detail, deadline-driven, and safety-conscious
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Root Cause Analysis and Preventative Maintenance experience
Ability to work independently under pressure
🛠️ Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on production machinery
Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical failures
Perform fault-finding on PLC-controlled systems
Plan, coordinate, and record all maintenance activities
Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Quality standards
Carry out mechanical work such as replacing bearings, shafts, motors, v-belts, and chains
Perform welding, lathe operations, and fabrication when required
Collaborate with the production team during start-ups and shutdowns
Liaise with suppliers and contractors for specialized maintenance work
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance machine efficiency
🤝 Interpersonal Relationships
Internal: Work closely with production management, operators, and maintenance teams.
External: Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and service providers.
