About the Role
AECI Plant Health, a trusted leader in sustainable industrial and chemical solutions, is seeking a qualified Electrician to join our high-performance engineering team. This permanent role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic plant environment where innovation, safety, and technical excellence are top priorities.
As an Electrician, you will be responsible for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems to ensure optimal plant performance and compliance with SHEQ standards.
⚙️ Key Responsibilities
- Installations & Electrical Projects
Perform installation of new 3-phase power supplies, AC motors, and related electrical infrastructure.
Inspect, report, and repair faulty electrical systems and components.
Issue Certificates of Compliance (COC) for all completed installations.
Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Maintenance & Plant Operations
Conduct preventative and breakdown maintenance on electrical equipment.
Test, calibrate, and commission new systems.
Maintain plant lighting, instruments, and control systems.
Perform regular housekeeping in workshops to maintain safety and efficiency.
- Troubleshooting & Technical Support
Diagnose and repair faults on processing equipment, electrical instrumentation, and HMI systems.
Use appropriate testing equipment, measuring devices, and power tools.
Document and close job cards accurately; maintain inspection records.
Participate in standby duties and overtime work when required.
🎓 Qualifications & Experience
Matric / Grade 12.
Electrical Trade Test Certificate (Qualified Electrician).
Valid Wireman’s License (Electrical COC) – essential.
Completed Electrical Apprenticeship (recognized by SETA).
3–5 years of experience in electrical maintenance within a production, plant, or chemical environment.
Medium Voltage (MV/HV) certification – advantageous.
Instrumentation background – beneficial.
Strong technical knowledge of electrical engineering systems and safety protocols.
Experience in mentoring apprentices and leading small technical teams.
Computer literate in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Valid driver’s license and reliable transport.
Medically fit and safety-conscious.
🌍 Preferred Skills & Attributes
Excellent problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
Strong understanding of SHEQ Management Systems.
Hands-on knowledge of electrical testing tools and industrial control systems.
Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to perform under pressure.
Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
