🔧 Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
Grade 12 (Matric) or Technical Equivalent
At least 1 year experience in a related production, engineering, or workshop environment
Ability to perform physical labour, including lifting, handling equipment, and supporting fabrication duties
Basic exposure to tools, machines, pipes, welding, or boilermaking (advantageous)
🔨 Primary Duties & Key Responsibilities
As an Artisan Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting artisans, operators, and workshop teams across multiple technical functions. Key duties include:
Fabrication Support
Assisting operators in the fabrication of pipes, pipe fittings, and intricate pipe specials using industrial machinery and tools.
Supporting tasks involving marking, measuring, cutting, rolling, welding, and assembling metal components.
Ensuring all fabrications meet the required quality, accuracy, and safety standards.
Workshop & Machine Operations
Performing machine cleaning, tool cleaning, and ensuring the workshop area is tidy and well-organized.
Supporting the maintenance, preparation, and setup of machinery used in production.
Reorganizing work areas to ensure optimal workflow and safety compliance.
Quality & Safety Compliance
Maintaining quality awareness, ensuring all work adheres to ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
Conducting mini-risk assessments before each task and complying with OHS Act regulations.
Supporting environmental compliance initiatives within the workshop and operations area.
Data Recording & Reporting
Assisting in recording technical data related to articles being fabricated or processed.
Providing accurate and clear feedback to artisans and supervisors to support continuous improvement.
Customer Awareness
Ensuring that all work completed contributes to excellent customer satisfaction, meeting delivery deadlines, quality requirements, and cost targets.
📘 Technical Knowledge Required
Candidates must demonstrate or be willing to learn the following:
Basic understanding of pipe fitting, welding, rolling, and metal fabrication.
Ability to work with boilermaking tools, welding tools, and fabrication equipment.
Knowledge of working with centre lines, focal points, and intricate pipe layouts.
Familiarity with marking, cutting, rolling, and welding processes.
