Position Overview
CFW Fans (Pty) Ltd is currently seeking a committed and technically capable Electrical Assistant to join its engineering team on a permanent basis. This role is ideal for an individual who has a solid foundation in electrical engineering principles, enjoys hands-on technical work, and is eager to develop further within an industrial engineering environment.
The Electrical Assistant will play a vital supporting role in ensuring that electrical installations, testing, repairs, and servicing activities are conducted efficiently, safely, and in line with company standards. The successful candidate will work closely with qualified electricians, engineers, and technicians, contributing directly to the quality and reliability of CFW Fans’ products and services.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
The Electrical Assistant will be responsible for a wide range of technical support tasks within the electrical and engineering environment. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Electrical Motor Assistance
Assisting with the daily connection of single-phase and three-phase electric motors in accordance with electrical standards and safety requirements.
Supporting the correct wiring and configuration of motors across various industrial applications.
Assisting with the interpretation of motor nameplates to ensure correct voltage, frequency, and current connections.
Electrical Testing and Diagnostics
Assisting with routine and specialised electrical testing on various motors, ensuring that all equipment operates within specified parameters.
Supporting fault-finding activities to identify electrical issues and assist in implementing corrective actions.
Participating in pre-commissioning and post-repair testing processes.
Repairs and Maintenance
Repairing or assisting with repairs on faulty electrical equipment, including lighting systems, electrical grinders, power cords, and related tools.
Ensuring that repaired equipment is safe, functional, and compliant with workplace safety regulations.
Supporting preventative maintenance activities to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.
Industrial Fan Testing
Assisting with the electrical testing of industrial mine fans and other ventilation systems.
Supporting testing procedures to ensure that fans meet operational, performance, and safety specifications.
Working closely with engineering teams during testing and quality assurance processes.
Reporting and Documentation
Completing and assisting with required electrical reports, test records, and service documentation.
Ensuring accurate and timely recording of test results, repairs, and service activities.
Supporting compliance with ISO quality management requirements through proper documentation.
Dehumidifier Servicing
Assisting with the servicing, maintenance, and testing of various types of industrial dehumidifiers.
Supporting electrical checks, fault identification, and minor repairs under supervision.
Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
Assisting with the connection and configuration of motors operating on different voltages and frequencies.
Supporting the programming and setup of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) according to motor specifications and operational requirements.
Gaining exposure to advanced motor control systems and industrial automation environments.
General Engineering Support
Providing electrical support across HVAC, ventilation, and fan-related engineering projects.
Assisting artisans, technicians, and engineers as required.
Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work environment at all times.
Qualifications and Experience Required
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
Educational Requirements
Grade 12 / Technical Matric (Essential)
Electrical Engineering N3 qualification (Essential)
Experience
Proven experience working within the electrical field, preferably in an industrial or engineering environment.
Demonstrated experience in a similar role as an Electrical Assistant or Electrical Technician support role.
Exposure to electrical motors, industrial equipment, and testing procedures.
Additional Advantages
Welding experience will be considered an advantage.
Experience within the HVAC, ventilation, industrial fans, or related engineering applications is highly advantageous.
Valid driver’s licence is essential.
