An exciting opportunity is available for a motivated, disciplined, and career-driven graduate to join a dynamic Information and Communication Technology (ICT) environment as an ICT Intern based in Johannesburg North. This internship is specifically designed for individuals who have a strong interest in ICT governance, information security, risk management, audits, and project coordination, and who wish to gain structured workplace exposure within a professional ICT management environment.
The internship provides hands-on learning, guided mentorship, and exposure to real-world ICT governance frameworks, service delivery processes, and strategic ICT operations. The successful candidate will work closely with the ICT Governance and Service Delivery Manager, supporting various governance, reporting, compliance, and project-related activities.

This programme aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application while preparing the intern for a successful career in ICT governance, ICT risk, information security, project management, or ICT service management.

Purpose of the Internship


The purpose of this internship is to develop future ICT professionals by offering structured workplace learning in ICT governance and service delivery. The intern will gain exposure to:

ICT governance frameworks and reporting structures

Information security implementation and compliance

ICT risk management processes

ICT audit coordination and evidence management

Vendor and service provider management

ICT project planning, monitoring, and reporting

Budget monitoring and project financial oversight

Key Responsibilities and Duties

The ICT Intern will provide support across multiple functional areas within ICT governance and service delivery. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. ICT Governance Support

Assist in the preparation, compilation, and consolidation of ICT governance reports for management and governance structures.

Support the alignment of ICT activities with organisational policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.

Assist in tracking ICT compliance requirements and reporting on governance indicators.
Provide administrative and operational support to ICT governance processes and forums.

  1. Information Security Support

Assist in the implementation and monitoring of the Information Security Programme.

Support initiatives related to data protection, confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems.

Assist in documenting information security controls, procedures, and improvement actions.

Support awareness initiatives related to ICT security policies and best practices.

  1. ICT Audit Coordination

Assist in the preparation of documentation and reports required for internal and external ICT audits.
Support the collection, validation, and submission of audit evidence.
Assist in tracking audit findings, recommendations, and corrective action plans.
Maintain records related to audit outcomes and follow-up activities.

  1. ICT Risk Management

Assist in identifying, documenting, and assessing ICT risks.
Support the maintenance of ICT risk registers and mitigation plans.
Assist in monitoring risk treatment actions and reporting on progress.
Support compliance with organisational and regulatory risk management frameworks.

  1. Vendor and Service Provider Management

Assist in monitoring ICT vendor performance and service delivery.
Support the compilation of vendor performance reports and dashboards.
Assist in maintaining records of contracts, service-level agreements (SLAs), and deliverables.
Support communication and coordination with ICT service providers.

  1. ICT Committee Reporting
  2. Assist in preparing ICT reports for submission to committees and governance structures where ICT representation is required.
    Support the consolidation of ICT performance metrics, risks, projects, and service delivery updates.
    Assist in ensuring reports are accurate, complete, and submitted within required timeframes.

  1. ICT Project Initiation and Roll-out

Assist in initiating and supporting the roll-out of approved ICT projects.
Support project documentation, including project charters, schedules, and work plans.
Assist in tracking project milestones, deliverables, and dependencies.
Provide administrative support to project teams and stakeholders.

  1. Project Risk, Issues, and Deliverables Management

Assist in compiling and maintaining project risk and issue logs.
Support the identification and escalation of project risks and challenges.
Assist in monitoring project deliverables and completion status.
Support reporting on project performance and progress.

  1. ICT Project Reporting

Assist in the preparation of regular ICT project reports for management and governance structures.
Support the consolidation of project performance data, timelines, and outcomes.
Assist in maintaining accurate project records and documentation.

  1. Project Planning and Budget Support

Assist in the development, monitoring, and management of ICT project plans.
Support budget tracking, expenditure monitoring, and financial reporting for ICT projects.
Assist in ensuring projects remain aligned with approved budgets and timelines.
Support documentation related to project financial controls.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this internship opportunity, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

Educational Requirements

National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification (minimum NQF Level 4)

National Diploma or equivalent qualification (NQF Level 6) in one of the following or a related field:

Information Technology
Computer Science

ICT Governance
Any other relevant ICT-related discipline
