🎯 Programme Purpose
Transnet Port Terminals (TPT) invites dynamic and motivated youth to apply for its 2025 Learnership & Training Programme — designed to build a pipeline of skilled talent for critical operational roles within South Africa’s ports.
This 12-month structured training provides practical, hands-on experience in logistics, transport, and port operations, aligning with your academic background and career ambitions.
Preference will be given to applicants residing in the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality.
🧭 Key Responsibilities
During the training programme, successful candidates will:
Supervise port and general workers during loading and offloading operations.
Allocate teams for cargo hooking and tally cargo on tally sheets.
Complete incident, accident, and delay reports.
Inspect containers and complete Container Inspection Reports (CIR).
Record and scan cargo details via NAVIS and HHT systems.
Scrutinize landing orders and supervise cargo dispatching.
Manage documentation such as SAP1, SAP2, manifests, and delivery notes.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and operational procedures.
Coordinate with vessel teams and oversee cargo tracking and delivery accuracy.
🎓 Minimum Requirements
Matric / Grade 12 (Essential)
N6 in Logistics or Transport (Advantageous)
Age: 18 – 35 years
South African citizenship
💡 Knowledge & Competencies
Knowledge of:
Wharf, Shed Yard, and Cargo Operations
Shipping, Landing & Transshipment Processes
Road and Rail Cargo Distribution
Safety & Hazardous Material (Hazmat) Procedures
ISPS Code and Operational Procedures
Cargo Documentation, NAVIS System (or willingness to train)
Skills Required:
