About the Programme
Volkswagen Group South Africa (VWSA) is inviting dynamic and motivated individuals to apply for its 2025 Technical Apprentice Programme. This learnership offers aspiring artisans the opportunity to gain hands-on technical experience and industry-recognised qualifications in a world-class manufacturing environment.
The programme is managed by the Technical Learning Academy (TLA) and supports Volkswagen’s commitment to skills development, employment equity, and youth empowerment within the South African automotive industry.
Available Apprenticeship Fields
Applicants can select one of the following technical disciplines:
Electrical
Mechanical Fitter
Millwright
Automotive Motor Mechanic
Tool Making
Welding
Transportation Electrician
Mechatronics Technician
Programme Objectives
The Volkswagen Apprenticeship Programme aims to:
Develop a pipeline of skilled artisans for the South African automotive sector.
Provide access to high-quality technical education and practical workplace training.
Equip learners with the competencies required for modern automotive manufacturing.
Minimum Entry Requirements
To qualify for this learnership opportunity, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Matric/Grade 12 with passes in Core Mathematics and Physical Science (Maths Literacy not accepted).
Alternatively, an N3 qualification (minimum of 4 subjects including Mathematics and Physical Science).
Must specify a 1st and 2nd field of training preference.
Must be willing to pursue further studies on a part-time basis.
Must be available for full-time training and may not work overtime unless authorised.

- Certified copy of highest school or college qualification

Important Notes

Employees who have already completed a TLA Apprenticeship/Learnership will not be considered.
Successful internal applicants will return to a suitable position within Production, identified by Industrial Engineering upon completion.
